I have a function call in my form tag like this:

I am new to JavaScript programming and I'm looking for a way to manipulate

Hello gurus... I must have looked at this too long and something
simple has stopped making sense. I am trying to compare 2 numbers to
each to check if one is >= to the other, but the weirdest thing keeps
happening. If the number is any more than 1 digit it does not work.

The way I usually set up and work with the XMLHttpRequest to execute
server side functions and get results is this:
var url = "someurl?params=" + params;
var conn = createRequest(); // gets an XMLHttpRequest object

This is a script to scale thumbnails depending on the size specified
by an application setting.  I've dummied down the script to make it a
little more understandable.

I've compared some open-source javascript editors, and found different
techniques for constructing the code. Two examples:

Using Firebug's 'Net' Panel, I can visit http://script.aculo.us and
watch prototype.js file load in just over 400ms, and scriptaculous.js
in just under 400ms.  Additional files such as effects.js also load in
a couple of hundred milliseconds.

I'm writing a widget wherein I want the pages using it to be able to
subscribe to events on it. I did my own research, not asking anyone to
write it for me, just want to make sure I'm on the right track here.

If what I want from the on_mouse_move function is, trigger another
function in two case:
1. when the mouse holds at same position for 1 second;
2. when the mouse fully stop;

I am fairly new to Javascript, coming from a Java & C/C++ background
so the possibility of a fundamental misunderstanding on my part cannot

I'm working on cross-platform portability of some javascript.
My Macintosh testing platform is rather old.  It has Safari
