I have a movie with a preloader on frame 1 it takes several seconds to load
frame 1.  I tried putting a still image on frame 1, I got the same thing.
Why would frame 1 take so long to load?

You cannot embed the characters and apply htmlText (with either CSS or <i> or
<b> tags in the text) and alias it too......(in a dynamic text field, obviously)
I wish this wasn't true.  But I cannot for the life of me to get this to work.
