Been away, need some advice

I plan on authoring a web page critical of bad veterinarians. I expect that
they will try to nullify my efforts. I need a site that a) is free or fairly
inexpensive b) is relatively inaccessible to USA judicial efforts at closure
c) is anonymous in that my identity can be anon or faked and d) preferably
offshore if possible. It will be hard for them to come after me directly
even if they know who I am, but I am more concerned about their ability to
stopper my webpage by complaints. If I have the wrong newsgroup, please
suggest another that is well read. Thanks.

Can anyone offer any helpful, concrete suggestions?

Thanks.

Where were you? Why should we care? And LBNL, what does your awayness
have to do with vets or Web sites? Almost every OP here needs advice,
why do you mention it in the subject line?

Sounds like you intend to employ legally actionable methods to defame
doctors you don't like. Are you sure you want to do this?

If you want your page -- and if it's really only one page, I bet the
vets ignore you -- accepts comments, make it so that they're moderated.
That way you can delete the posters who try to present the vets' side of
things.

Alternative idea: Provide a form for lodging complaints that doesn't
actually save any input.

alt.med.veterinary.slander? misc.legal.computing?

> Can anyone offer any helpful, concrete suggestions?

No, since you put it that way, I can't.

BTW, unless you own madhouse.com, you should change the e-mail address
you use for postings. Otherwise you're spamming somebody else's domain
(and somebody might start a Web site defaming you to the world).

Libel is never a safe policy; while it can be difficult and expensive to sue
people in other countries, it is easy to sue people who have websites in
other countries.

You are still responsible, and almost always traceable.

And why would any reputable host risk their livelihood to protect yuor
attacks?

This IS the wrong group; you need alt.crooked.lawyers

With enough money (and in the grand scheme of things, we're not talking
about a lot), any "anonymous" person on the 'net is traceable. Taking on
people who *have* that money is *not* a good thing, if you are intending to
use actionable tactics, such as libel, defamation of character and other
such methods.

That being said: I've had more than a couple of experiences with vets who
shouldn't be practicing medicine on amoebas, much less family pets or
livestock: Why not make a site that is based on provable fact, offer
legitimate advice, things to look out for in shady vets, forums for people
to suggest *good* vets and so on ?

My worst experience with a bad vet was a shyster who, after spending almost
a thousand dollars on a cat, just before christmas, who was getting thinner
and thinner, the vet told us it had "feline AIDS" and the medicine to keep
it alive was going to be $600 a month. We just didn't have that kind of
money for the pet, so we had it put down. The vet asked to do an autopsy
(the only thing we didn't have to pay for) and it turned out the cat had
swallowed a rubber ball that was lodged in it's throat. How's that for an
ethical vet ? (There was no feline AIDS, either - the vet had made a "best
guess" and was going to fleece us for the money each month)

Because it would be a reasonable response, and the OP isn't feeling
reasonable just now.

Hey, hey, now wait a minute. The vet was no shyster; the vet was a
charlatan.

Your *lawyer* is a shyster.

Possessive "its" has no apostrophe. Even on the Internet.

Hrm, probably true. Here's hoping he doesn't do anything stupid that'll
just get himself into trouble.

Well, he was a quack, too :)

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt by assuming he just got ripped off
by a vet and is reacting emotionally - Hell, a google on my name and dog
and 911 will show that I did something just about as stupid when my poor
pup was killed by a car :/

If this is the case, he could take his anger and determination and turn it
into something useful and constructive :)

Ok, I get it now. You guys are a bunch of a**hole web admins who get
complaints from people who try to censor the internet. And who then
comlain to their boyfriends who, in-turn, deny them sex.

Stay tuned, same bat channel. By the time I get done, IF you are hosting
vet or vet related websites or otherwise have your lips glued to some
pro-vet a*hole, you will just love what is to follow.

Just because I naively posted nicely, does not mean I am a novice on the
net, as you will see in the immediate future. I'm laughing at all your
warnings because NONE of them apply to me or will in any way effect me.

You're a bunch of idiots really. And go ahead an try to get this account
nuked, cuz I've got many others from multiple IPs that I can use, so
you'll be pissing up a rope. You all just gave me more motivation to put
my plan into effect.

The most reasonable response I read was to collect FACTS instead of hearsay.

You can still get sued, but if you actually libel people, they're
likely to win the suits. (I imagine that's why you want to be anonymous...
to make yourself more difficult to sue.)

I also agree that in the end, anonymity on the Internet is generally
nonexistent.

Your choice. Some of the responses were over the top, for sure. But there
was some good advice too.

Oh for heaven's sake. A bunch of us gave you the benefit of the doubt and
even now, when you've had a few days to calm down, you still choose to take
the *dumbest* way to "get back" at a vet that's wronged you.

What you don't seem to understand, and has been pointed out to you several
different ways, is that there is a *legal* way to achieve your aim,
*without* the need for anonymity and *without* the risk of being sued, but
*with* credibility. The way you're going, though, I can just imagine you're
going to make a site full of vitriol and rantings that will result in
nothing more than people saying "Oh look, another nut-job makes a web
site".

Good luck - you'll need a *lot* of it.

He'll probably put up a kook's web site. No, wait, that's what you did. Pot,
