Here is an article Cutt's recommends for those new to SEO.   If anyone
new to SEO or websites is reading this group, IMO, read Matt Cutt's
blog if you do not already and the article he recommends here.
http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/free-seo-tips/  I hope this helps. Old
timers will scuff but I wish I read Cutt's blog a couple of years ago
it would have saved me a lot of trial and error.   However, I am still
have a lot of error and questions on my sites as I am still learning.

I left a comment on the blog.

Most of the tips are standard knowledge in SEO circles.

One tip was to ask your friends for links from their web sites in
order to boost link popularity. That would be OK if we all had the
same number of friends. Guys like me can count our friends on one hand
whereas most SEOs in India seem to have 10,000 friends. Anyway you
splice it it is a link scheme of sorts and I was disappointed to see
Cutts endorse it.

RankPay is a company that uses smart and effective ways to get your
website ranked onto search engines such as, Google, MSN and Yahoo!
What separates us from our competitors is that you dont pay until you
rank.  That's right we will perform SEO tasks for you until a higher
ranked is achieved for your company!!

1. So good that you need to drop Matt Cutts name?
2. So good that your spam omitted your own URL!

Pissups and breweries come to mind!

I will offer the same deal, with a fixed price of $2.  I have no
intention of actually doing any work, but I figure that by random
chance, some of my "customers" will get a higher rank despite me
doing nothing.... :)

OK, who here is the jokester who anonymously transferred two
dollars to my paypal account last night?

Anyone have any ideas as to how to get a few thousand more of
this sort of joke played on me?  :)

The Internet is a strange place....

I'd take that seriously; may be an identity theft is being planned ...

How does sending money to a Paypal account help an identity thief?

Sending a couple of dollars to your account is part of Paypal's verification
process. If I remember correctly they'd need to see the info that comes with
it. Anyone have access to your bank statements?

Ah.  I understand why you might be concerned.  I am well aware of the
difference between the Paypal verification process and a payment by
a third party, but your warning is a useful one for those who do not
know the difference.

>Anyone have access to your bank statements?

No.  I do not do online banking, all financial information on
my PC is encrypted (AES encryption standard) on a machine
running the QNX operating system,  my bank statements arrive
at a locked high-security mailbox, and I use a shredder that
meets GSA NSA/CSS 02-01 specifications.

In addition, I keep the the credit card and bank account
associated with my PayPal account at a level where the
total available funds are $10 for each, thus limiting my
exposure if someone breaches my PayPal security.

I am reasonably confident that the transaction I described
was indeed one of my online buddies playing a little joke
on me.
