its about time we had this. i am tired of the pop ups asking me to install
dialer software and even flash or shockwave for that matter. why must i do
a registry hack when i know darned well that i never want to install those
guys software. if i change my mind then give me a list of untrsuted
publishers/software and i might reconsider.
the fact is - there are companies that only make exploitative software such
as premium dialers. i distrust far more software than i trust and i am sick
of being asked do i trust people/companies i have never even heard of (even
if verisign or some certificate authority has verified there existence).

microsoft: any word on what you are going to do about blocking certificates
as part of your security stratedgy?
if a certificate identifies a company or individual then i should have the
right to block them based upon it especially when i know they are producers
of spyware, dialers, viruses and generally un-ethical software. this is no
version 7 feature - this should have been patched in yesterday to all
versions. if you are worried about microsoft being blocked based on your
own certificate then you should reflect the change in your license to ensure
that all users expressly trust microsoft software otherwise they shouldn't
be using it.

Jason
I have the same problem here. Accidently i hitt the trust button of a adware
certificate from a site. Now those IE-Plugin keep getting into my computer
even though i use Ad remover to scan/remove them but they ar ejust undead.
If anyone knows a way to untrust/block a certificate, it will prevent ads
very well.
For the mean time, Jason u can uncheck Enable third-party browser extension
and Install on Deman under advance option on IE. It will helps a bit for
dialer and other ad ware.

not a bad response from a company committed to security, a bill gates
directive no less, to a comment in your own newsgroup. such a lax response
to a valid issue, in fact probably the single most misunderstood issue by
the home user (did you ever wonder how those dialers get on there half the
time (its the simple click yes to continue box click by mistake/ignorance).
