Hey, recently when I try to visit web pages that require a username and
password by clicking on a link in the form
http://username:password@website.com, I get the "invalid syntax", "page
cannot be displayed" error messages.  The pages work if I login using the
separate login window.  I can't think of what might have caused it.  I had
downloaded a critical update before the problem, but tried restoring my
computer to before the installation.  I get the same error on other user
accounts also.  I've tried returning my IE settings back to the default and
switching around my security settings.  Has anyone else had this problem?
Please cc to my email, curran.chandler@usm.edu.  thanks,

well I fixed the problem rather easily...and in case anyone else is having
this problem, i simply went to add/remove programs in the control panel,
selected the add/remove windows components button, & deselected IE, clicked
ok, and then went back and checked the box.  Problem solved.
