Hello NG,

where can i find the storded Passwords from IEXPL.

e.g. If i fill out a html Form (Username an Password) first time, then ask
me
IEXPL to store Password.
On my second visit I mst only retype the Username, the password comes
automaticly.

Anyone knows a tool to read out this passwords who stored in ( i think ) a
tmp. file ?

regards Ralf

This is called the "Protected Storage System" and it is controlled by
"pstores.exe".  There is no file.  The passwords are stored in an
encrypted fashion inside your registry.  There are tools that you can
use that can display your passwords if you have forgotten them.  Why
do you need to know? ;-]

Sorry for always replying twice, but this board drives me bonkers with
it's 3-9 hours lag time!!  How can you guys stand it?!!

Just some side notes.  That program will display multiple passwords
that are stored on your system.  If you just want to see what is
behind the stars (asterices) in a single Password box, his program
named "AsterIE" may be all you need.  Additionally, many times you can
simply Copy the stars and paste them into Notepad and read the
Password.

I guess this is important for people to know -- if someone can access
your computer, they can access your stored Passwords.  Beware. :-]

Actually, in WinXP it is not pstores.exe because the Protected Storage
Service runs as... a Service.  You will see it if you look at your
running Services.
