I am running IE6 on WinXP Professional Could anyone tell me where the file
is that stores the addresses that appear when you open up the drop down
address bar?

I have an address that has somehow appeared (having never visited the site)
and refuses to budge even when clearing the history. It appears only as you
start to type in the address line.

Thanks for any help

not familiar with xp but if it's like any of the newer versions of ie for
any other operating system. you should try to turn off "auto complete" for
forms and addresses in the internet options/content bar. and then clear
"auto complete history" for forms and addresses
