I have a new laptop with XP which has one annoying problem. When I launch
Internet Explorer, it launches to the home page and then within a few
seconds I get a new screen up with the adds. http://www.searchxl.com/dir.php
this seems to take over my machine, I can't remove it unless I do
Ctrl-Alt-Del which is infuriating.

I'm not sure if this is normal or I've picked something up from the web. Any
ideas how to remove/disable this screen?

Tks
Regards

Tony H.

Download SpyBot Search and Destroy, Ad Aware(free version if available) and
CWShredder; then download latest updates and run.  Also you can try
RegSeeker to clean your registry of invalid registrations.  Hopefully this
will solve your problem.

If you haven't done so already, you should download both ad-aware and
spybot-search & destroy.  Go through the update procedures for both programs
and run full system scans.  Also, make sure you have an antivirus program
installed and updated, and also run a full scan with it.  These problems can
be caused by viruses or spyware.  Oh and try www.download.com for the 2
programs.
