My IExplorer6 in XP crashed and prompted the "Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close" alert box. NOw everytime I
open up my IExplorer , it brings up the same alert box, and I can't
load Explorer.

Try,

Control Panel>Internet Options>Advanced

Uncheck,

"Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)

This worked for me. Spyware was the cause of the problem. You may
recheck the option after restart.
