Has anyone seen this happen before. I have a computer running Windows XP
Home edition. Whenever I go to a secure website, such as a login, my
explorer seems to get redirected to a specific site. It appears to happen
whenever the URL attempts to reach a destination of "https://".
We are removing certain suspicious software such as HotBar and we are
testing for viruses. All updates have been installed. Short of
reformatting/reinstalling.... what can be done?
Any suggestions is appreciated.
redirects? sounds like you got something hijacking your internet explorer.
i use spybot and adaware to check my computer for anything that might be
hijacking my web browser. do google search to find the spybot and adaware
software. there are free versions available to use.
this is a bit short of reinstalling.

That is great advice. This is a friends computer having the issue, not
mine.
This computer had Norton Systemworks 2003 but it expired on the 3 Jan.
We got on to Symantec.com and installed a trial version of 2004. It did not
find anything.
I have Adaware 6.0 and will give it a try. We also tried a restore point
but the farthest we can go back is 19 January.... that's no help.
I will let you know if Adaware did any good.
