I brought home a new computer and find that when I use internet explorer the
sites only fill up 3/4 of the width of the page. I've tried large fonts and
adjusting the dpi but nothing seems to work. It worked fine on my old
computer.

Your display settings are probably different than they were on the old
computer. Right click on the Desktop/Properties. Go to the Settings Tab. I
have a large monitor and my settings are at 1024x768. A lot of websites will
not fill my monitor.
