IE7 on Win2000?

I was just reading, on the IE7 download page, that it only worked with Win2003 and WinXP.   Is that really true...if
anyone is using it with Windows 2000, please let me know.  It makes no sense that it wouldn't work.

IE 7 detects the Wndows version number.  If it finds anything lower
than XP, with refuses to install (officially.)
