Hello:
I've seen this posted on other forums but I haven't seen many answers
that fit so I'll give a fair amount of detail.
After awhile, both browsers on my system stop working.
-All other internet apps, Skype, MSN Messenger, continue to work.
-Both Firefox (latest) and IE7 (with latest updates) stop working.
-Browsing to the modem config page fails, although I can ping the
modem just fine
-This affects only this machine, at the same time this machine has
problems I can browse the web from another computer on my home
network.
-Rebooting the modem does not help
-renewing my IP does not help, but--
-rebooting the machine does fix the issue, for awhile, then at some
random point browsing stops working.
-I have no toolbars like Google toolbar. I have no spyware, and never
really install any dodgy apps anyway on this machine, just mainstream
programs like Office. No viruses, and the modem does NAT translation.
-nothing strange in Event viewer at the time browsing stops working
Any idea what to check to figure out what is going on here?
Thanks,
Kayda

Hi Kadya,
Yes, I have the same situation. After the 2.0.0.5 update, both FF and
IE stopped working. Opera survives and is now the only browser I can
use. My latest clue is that I can't ping any other machine, while all
the non-updated machines on the network are fine. Oddly, Microsoft's
help browser in Visual Studio also still works. Microsoft diagnostics
can't diagnose the problem since it thinks there is none, and it's
correct! I can still get out with other software.
My OS is vista. I expect this is a factor. I'll probably have to redo
the OS if I want these back. I'm not sure I do.

We too are facing the exact problem, upgraded Firefox to 2.0.0.5 and
the problem started.....
we again upgraded to 2.0.0.6 and we could browse for some time
only....
now only option is to reinstall vista!
