My operating system is XP. Can any one tell me why IE7 will not save my
preferred home page. I have tried going to tools/internet options press the
general tab entered my preferred into the box and pressed apply and ok but
it keeps going back to the MSN home page. Does one know why it won't change?

Thanks

Paul

Maybe you have installed some other piece of Microsoft software (MSN
Toolbar? etc?) and ticked a box that says "Make MSN my search engine and
keep it that way if something else changes it".

Thanks for your reply.

I don't recall downloading any Microsoft tool bar.

The orginal problem was when I have a page - any webpage, doesn't matter -
and I wanted to log off /
close IE7, I click the "X" in top right corner (or even if I choose  "File -
Exit" it happens too)...the IE& won't close...I get a message that
says :

"Internet Explorer has encountered a aproblem and needs to close. We are
sorry..."
"Please tell Microsoft about this problem"

Then in the website address box it just says " about: blank "  and there is
a "blank page" still open
...and then it won't close until I click the "Don't Send" box......then it
closes......

This was caused by loading the software that came with the
BT wireless hub which I installed yesterday. I tried uninstalling and then
reinstalling IE7 but that didn't work. The only way that I got rid of this
problem was to go to tools/internet options then press the advance tab and
then press the 'reset..' button but this deletes all your add ons. However,
this has given me another problem. It won't save my preferred home page
address on the general tab in internet options and keeps go to the MSN home
page but at least it has stopped the problem you have discribed above. I
have again reinstalled IE7 but the home page still won't save. Prior to
loading the BT software IE7 use to save my preferred home page. Any other
suggestions to resolve this problem?

Regards

Paul
