My friend has a worm, apparently in her I/E 7 which is causing
strange messages to be diplayed beside her name in my
Yahoo Messenger contact List.
I have been told that these messages beside her name contain a virus.
What is the best way for her to delete her present Download of !/E7
prior to doing fresh Download from Microsoft?
Thank you in anticipation.

download a new copy of IE7.
if you look in control panel, add/remove programs, & click add/remove
windows components, you can uncheck IE.
then click next, etc. until uninstallation is finished.
you may lose your favorites. these are stored in
\documents and settings\username\favorites
so you can copy them from there if need be.
and reinstall IE7 that you downloaded.
BUT - instead...
I would highly suggest uninstalling & reinstalling yahoo messenger,
though I don't use it myself, rather than IE, since you said yourself,
this is the source of her woes.
BTW, there *ARE* yahoo worms. I am not sure than reinstalling IE would
do the trick.

RAM Disk is *not* an installation method.

see this article:

then see this:

your IE is probably fine. another browser has been installed and IE's
icon has been tweaked.
possibly a $30 copy of webroot spysweeper in the lime green box at the
store would be in order.
after your machine has been cleaned,
to restore IE7, uncheck it & click next & finish the 'uninstall', then
check it & click next & finish the 'install'. this should restore your
icon.
if that doesn't work, download a new copy off microsoft.com/ie
