IE7 hangs on normal startup; ok without add-ons

I was having this problem with IE6, then installed IE7 & still same problem.
The program hangs on startup.  (Hourglass for long time - "not responding"
message when trying to close or when clicking on tools button.)  It does not
hang when started without add-ons, but of course in that state, the "manage
add-ons" option is inactive.  Any suggestions?  Anyone know how to manage
add-ons from outside the program?

More info:  I've been using Firefox for months, and so today did an
uninstall of Netscape 7.2.  Don't know if the IE issue existed before that,
since I hadn't fired up IE in quite a while.  Set a system restore point
before uninstalling Netscape, but restoring to that point did not fix the IE
problem.  I installed IE7 over the previous installation after I noticed the
hang problem, mistakenly thinking a fresh install would solve it.

Norton registry scan shows a lot of entries still there relating to the now
uninstalled Netscape.  I've not "fixed" them yet.

Thanks for any help,  Ron

FWIW, fixed the problem by disabling allowance of third party browser
extensions.  (Properties=>Advanced=>about half way down the browsing list.)

Thank you!  As you see, I solved the immediate problem, but this is good
info for future.  Many thanks,  Ron
