Yes. Looks like just what I want = IE6. But it says "Internet Explorer 6
Service Pack 1 is recommended for systems running versions of Windows prior
to Windows XP". (It's the only IE6 that is listed). However, this used
computer I bought 9mo ago HAS WdoXP. Hope it works.
Does IE6 have drop down menu? Whatever I have now doesn't.
I want ANY Internet Explorer that has drop down menu. Except IE7.

IE 7 also has the "drop down menu", but it's just not inserted, by
default, because most, if not all, of the same functions are provided by
the Command Bar (over on the right). Click the Tools button then select
Menu Bar. The File Menu will display over on the left. I think this is
what you mean by "drop down menu", right? There is also a regedit fix
to put it at the top where IE6 had it.
IE7 is very customizable; you just have to explore a little to figure
out how to get it the way you want. Also, it's supposed to be much more
secure than IE6, which is always a good thing.
BTW, the IE6 link above will work fine for you on WinXP. Microsoft
inserted that line about prior versions because they want you to run IE7
with WinXP. After you install it, you'll probably need to install a
boatload of updates just to make it current.

Before I ramble on, I have one simple question.
How can I tell what version of IE I have?
The only reference I can find anywhere on my computer is the desktop icon
which says: IE5423543. Is this the 423543rd version of IE5?
(Note: It ain't IE7 because I removed IE7. IE7 was the only IE listed on the
'populated" list)

OK, I think I fould it. IE6.0.2900
As I understand the "service pack" download may help. I'll try it.
Thanks.
