When I right-click the forward and back buttons, WHY do I get a menu with
"restore", "move", "size", etc...

How do I get a list of URLS I've visited, or come back from?

Did you try left-click-hold? How about opening a history sidebar?

Click on the drop-down arrow just to the right of your forward/back
arrows.

Hi: I'm new at this so hope I can make my question clear enough to receive
proper support.  Have IE7 on windows XP home version.  All my programs were
successfully set up and the ones I use frequently have shortcut icons on the
desktop.  For some inexplicable reason, I inadvertently downloaded
Mozilla-Firefox due to an interest in one of their websites and this
subsequently started to interfere with my bringing up the files that were
previously coming up through IE.  Bottom line - I uninstalled the Firefox
program and the source of conflict was removed.  Now, when I click the
desktop icon desired, before I can bring up the web page, I get a drop down
window reading "Choose the program you want to use to open this file". I
then highlight the Internet Explorer choice, as well as click on an open box
at the bottom noting "Always use the selected program to open this kind of
file". Click OK, and voila, the proper file comes up.  BUT - the next time I
again click on the desk top icon, the same original drop down window comes
up asking me to again "Choose the program, etc." I assume that when I
initially indicated the continuous recognition of the selected program, that
clicking the icon thereafter would automatically bring up the designated web
page, without having to constantly repeat the cumbersome "choosing"
procedure. What am I doing wrong, or how can I achieve my objective?  Will
much appreciate some input. Thanks.
