NO IT'S NOT!!!!!
I've got XP Pro (SP2) with IE6.
Downloaded the IE7 RC1 from Microsoft website.
Installed it.
Clicked 'Restart Now'.
Machine restarted and now I have no explorer running as the error message
says 'normaliz.dll' is missing. try reinstalling the application.
Yeah-right, tried reinstalling ie7 but when it goes through the 'checking
your computer configuration' part it fails as the 'crypto' thingy service
isn't running.
So ran services.msc and saw cryto thingy wasn't running, so tried to start
it. Guess what, I can't start that either!!!
Microsoft - In the past I have sworn by your products. I've defended IE 5,
5.5 and 6 against those who want the world to use Firefox, but this release
is a pile of crap.
I've searched the web and there's so many entries about 'normaliz.dll' and
people uninstalling IE7 back to IE6 (which is now where I want to go) but so
many have had to reinstall because they can't use the 'Remove Programs' to
remove the thing.
So do NOT install this crap till a few magazines check it out and give it
the go ahead.
Seems like MS should have spent more time planning and programming it and
less time beta testing it.

As I scratch my head and wonder why you downloaded the RC1 of IE7 and not
just the full blown release. You are aware the IE7 is a "Full Release" and
not a "Release Candidate" anymore?
I've installed IE7 On my computer and I was pleased with the way it behaves.
A family member installed a RC version on the family computer, I don't know
who, but I was pissed that they did it and of course know one will admit it
due to that fact that their computer priviledge would be revoked. I would
not install the RC1 version, but the full release does behave well. I've
since upgrade that RC1 version to the full release via the Windows update on
the family computer.

I got the one from the Microsoft site so if it's a final release now then
that's the one I have unless they didn't change the download there.
I only got it cos a friend said he'd installed it as it wasn't Beta now.
Turns out I just had to download 'normaliz.dll' and put that in the windows
folder so I booted to safe mode with networking and copied the downloaded
file from another machine to the win dir.
Now it works.
Took two hours of hastle though!
<Queen Victoria impression> We are not amused<end>
Why wasn't the dll in the install program or if it was why didn't it put it
in?
