IE 7 final

First, let me say that I have always been a fan of IE and have used it since
IE4.  I had one of the IE7 betas installed and did NOT see these issues.
Now with having IE7 final installed for only 24 hours, I find myself
devastated by some of the things that Microsoft  placed into IE7 without
anyway to override them.

1.  When IE is opened now, it goes to the link:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=74005

I have yahoo.com set as homepage in the IE options and it was set that way
before installing IE7 final.  I can click on the home button and IE goes to
yahoo.  Question is why does it open to that link and how the heck can I get
it to open on the homepage of my choice?

2.  I create WebPages for myself and others, and often use a password and
re-direct to protect these WebPages.  When I do this using IE7, the password
option will never be displayed and goes to directly to a "You are obviously
not welcome as you used the wrong password" popup.  Hope that makes sense!
At any rate it makes it impossible to use password and redirect to protect
those pages.

3.  This was also in the beta version of IE 7, and I was not crazy about it,
but I sort of got used to it.  Adding Favorites to IE7, the Folders are
expanded showing all subfolders, making it much more difficult to find where
the new site to be added should go.  In my opinion, this is a stupid way to
handle this.

Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

So far these are the things I have found that annoy me to no end.  I am sure
there will be others as I continue <unless I decide to use another browser>
to use IE 7.  Even switching to another browse will NOT help the people that
use my WebPages unless they switch also.

From my experience, this has to be the worst IE Microsoft has ever produced.
When I used the beta version, I know that many <I sent some> recommendations
were sent to MS.  It seems that they were ALL ignored and MS did what the
heck they wanted without regard to the users wishes.

Thanks for listening anyway and I hope MS is listening also.

I also have been using IE for many years, however the latest verion has made
me reconsider.
I now use Frefox 1.5 - much easier and very similar to IE.

In regard to problem #1.

My homepage was stuck on MSN all day and I was able to fix it (after a lot
of searching) by unchecking the homepage protect tab in norton antivirus
2006. I also use Zonealarm Pro, spybot, adaware and spyblaster and checked
to see if they were the problem (they were not).

Thanks for the responses.  As far as Comcast Newsgroups fix, I glad that
worked for you, however, I do NOT use Nortons or ZoneAlarm.  I have been
pretty much a Microsoft purist.  I only use the XP Pro firewall and Avast
Pro for my antivirus.  I did check to see if Avast had something similar,
but if it does, I  have not found it.
Yes I could use Foxfire or a number of browsers for myself, but that offers
no solution for others that use my WebPages.
I sure would like to have a way let Microsoft know exactly how I feel about
IE7 LOL.  I want to use the product, however, at the moment, it has so many
negatives, it is almost impossible.

Take care and have a great day.
