I am using IE6sp1 on XP (everything up to date from
windowsupdate.ms.com) and cannot get either the tif image to display
or the save dialog box to appear. When I click on a link that leads
to a tif file, it shows that it is downloading in the status bar, but
when it finishes and says "done", all I get is the object icon in the
upper left of the screen. I have tried associating tif's with both
Document Imaging and Picture and Fax viewer, but with the same result.
Any idea how to correct this?

I don't recall TIFF files being one of the recognised file formats of the
Internet. Associating a viewer with TIFF files will not work unless it
has implemented the appropriate COM interfaces to allow it to be
instanced inside an Internet Explorer window.
