At the moment my home page in IE6 is http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en but I
want to change it to something else, I open IE6 then click on Tools >
Internet Options, I then type a Home Page Address that I want as my home
page I then click on accept and then OK. Shut down IE6 and then re open and
guess what, it is back on http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en.

No matter what I try it reverts to that web page, I have never had this
problem before. Does anyone know how to get around this problem. Cheers.

Probably a silly question but did you click on "use as default" before
clicking OK.

Hi Group

I'm having what might be this problem too on my WinXP-SP2 box.
I've been using a news site here in Aus for many months
(http://abc.net.au/news ) without problem but now want to change the Home
Page to another news site.

No matter what I do to reset the Home Page in IE6 (Tools>Internet Options
etc), including "default" I cannot get it to hold after closing the dialogue
box.  I don't know how long it's been stuck because I haven't tried to
change it for so long.
Also, I don't have the problem on another box running Win98SE.

I run up-to-date ZoneAlarm, Avast, Spybot and AdAware and have also run the
CWShredder all with nil results. HiJackThis doesn't show any entries which
seem strange either.  It doesn't seem to be a nastie.  Am I missing
something??

Any clues much appreciated please!

Hi Colin and Mike

I did what you both said you had tried and I too found the page opened with
the original Home page still in place.

So I chose yet another page (the fourth) and closed the site BUT this time I
opened from the IE "Icon" instead of my usual ISP Icon and it worked.
I have now done this three times and the new page comes up each time, so try
opening from the IE icon to see if it works for you.
Fingers crossed.

Kind Regards

Re my earlier query - this problem is being covered in the
"microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser" group, and in my case it
appears to be the latest version of ZoneAlarm.  (I uninstalled 65.722.000
and reinstalled 61.744.001, and the problem has gone).

If you are using Zonealarm- upgrade to .733 version and it will resove the
issue
