I have an old pc running windows 98. I have an adsl router with wireless
capability and ethernet ports. I bought an usb wireless adapter for the pc .
I have got to the stage I can ping from the pc the dns server address and
the ip adress and gateway address shown on the router browser user
interface. .The wireless config looks ok, winipcfg data and network tcpip
data and addresses look ok. I have set up ie connection setting for LAN, no
dialup etc. Yet I cannot open a page on IE, I get error 'cant find
server'.If I can ping the dns address and any wan address from my pc, why
cannot IE find a page. My laptop running windows xp works fine connected by
cable to ethernet port of the adsl router.I can also ping the pc address
from this laptop.

Hey,
Seems like you're having similar problems that
I occurred when I was setting up my net work.
Do the following check to see if you have a
DHCP connection in your network
neighbourhood, if you don't then you'll need to
create it. If the problem is not the DHCP confg
then check the hardware settings and possibly
the BIOS setting.
Additionally make sure that you have the latest
downloads from Microsoft for your OS.
