Ctrl-click launches new explorer instance, like it or not

Somehow I've managed to invoke a mode where Ctrl-click launches a new
window containing (a) the target of the link clicked on, or (b) just a
clone of the current window if the click target wasn't a link.

I've checked all the accessiblity stuff like sticky keys etc. and I
can't find anything.

This is driving me nuts; I use Ctrl-click to select multiple
non-continguous messages in the folders of Outlook web access.

Clues, does anyone have clues?

This turned out to be an undocumented "feature" of the NVidia NView
Desktop manager.
