The program My Search, which comes up as a new task bar on Internet
Explorer, was installed and I deleted it via Add/Remove Programs.
Although I have connection to my isp and can use Outlook Express, Internet
Explorer is now non-functioning and "unable to connect to server".
I am currently running Version 6.0.2900.2180/xpsp_2_rtm.040803-2158, Update
Version SP2, which was downloaded from Microsoft.
I thought perhaps I could uninstall it and reinstall an earlier version to
get me to the Microsoft site to download Internet Explorer 6 again - but
Uninstall tells me that it cannot be uninstalled because a component is
missing or corrupted. I cannot run an earlier version because it detects a
later version.
What do I do now?
Thank you

I have a similar problem.  I wish I could help you, but I cannot.
In fact, you have been more helpful to me.  I did not know to
remove the "My Search" program.

A question for you ....  Do you know how this happened in the
first place?  That is, how did "My Search" got installed and
took over the IE location function?

In my case, I did nothing overt to make that happen.  But I
do know that it happened (coincidentally?) soon after the
first time that I used my new Comcast connection.
