IE 6.029 does not open a pdf file in certain condition. Any help is
appreciated.

Have IE 6.029, Firefox 1.02 and Acrobat Reader 7.0 installed in WinXP
Pro.  IE is the default browser.
I placed two files aaa.htm and bbb.pdf in a same directory on a HDD.
aaa.htm consists of three lines:
    <html>
    <a href="bbb.pdf"> BBB </a>
    </html>
bbb.pdf is a valid Acrobat file.

1. Opened aaa.htm by IE, Clicked "BBB", nothing happens.  It should
  open another window and display the bbb.pdf, but just sits there.
2. Firefox opens bbb.pdf normaly.
3. Placed those two files in an HTTP server and accessed by IE.
  Cliccked "BBB". Another IE windows opened and bbb.pdf is displayed.
4. In condition 1 above, click of right mouse button can download
  the pdf file normaly.
5. Reset the IE settings to initaial, and tried.  No change.
6. Uninstalled Acrobat and reinstalled, in vain.
7. Tried on three machines of similar configration.  They behave same.

Any suggestion to fix?
