Every time i download something in IE6, it defaults to the temporary
folder, this i have no problem with, however when the download
completes windows tries to open it and there is no trace of the file
anywhere. it says
"Cannot open 'C:\.....\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\FJKXFZ8\<filename>'"

i have tried going to the folder content IE5 however it appears
non-existant. i figured this may be my problem, but i cannot create a
folder inside the Temporary Internet Folder, so i am stuck with what
to do.

Any help will be much appreciated, i have also tried searching through
the registry to change the download directory, but i cannot find
anything.

I am running Internet Explorer 6, Windows XP SP2, Broadband (incase
that helps) and Zonealarm.

thanx
Nathan

Can you not change the download location, say, to your desktop?

Which IE version are you using?

LEt me get this right.

You wanna have the option to save the file to a location of your choice and
not let IE auto download it into the internet temp. folder......

What I do is create a new folder on the C: drive called "Downloads". When
downloading a file, use the browse button to go to this folder. IE should
then remember to go here each time. If you put all downloads here - it also
makes it easy to scan everything at once with your antivirus. Just
rightclick and scan.
