Bit of a cross platform problem this one as it involves OWA on an Exchange
2003 box but I am sure the answer can be found in this NG.
My boss is using IE 6 (Winxp SP2) to connect to our mail server on port 80
across the internet. Every time he goes to the URL of the mail server he is
prompted for a username and password which is fine but....the username is
pre-filled in with 'mail.ouremailserver.com\username' which will causes the
authentication to fail. A manual delete of the username field and then a
re-type of the user id prefixed with the domain the account is in resolves
the problem but we are talking about a boss that is not the most IT tech guy
on the planet!
Is there a way to remove this pre-filled username whether from IE it's self
or via the registry?

Search the registry for 'mail.ouremailserver.com\username' and if you find
it in a logical location that's most likely the cause. If so try
substituting the bosses UserID so that the field is pre-filled for him/her,
ifthat doesn't work put things back how they were and look for another
answer.
