Win 98 gets attacked by Adware and spyware that causes the browser to
freeze up every few minutes.
My Standard fix response below:
IE6 is really lousey. Way too many people run into frozen or lockup
problems. Further, you can't go back to the earlier version. I can'
believe that the experts could not come up with a fix for the
thousands who have this problem.
Here's a fix .
Steps
1. Get a free copy of spybot at their web site.
2. Install spybot on your computer.
3. Run the program to search for spyware and the like.
4. Run the "Fix" portion of the program
5. Run the immunization portion of the program.
6. Close spybot.
7. Restart computer
5. Run IE6 or reinstall IE6
Presto! Spybot eliminated all unwanted spyware, non windows ad bars,
other bars on IE Browser and all unecessary cookies. In essence,
removed all unecessary clutter which helped to stall your computer
when running IE6. IE6 will now run flawlessley, won't crash, won't
stall and the install will be "virgin."
This has worked 100% of the time on systems with Win 98 Win ME
WinXP.
All these Adware and Spy programs add their own things to IE including
menu items and background programs. They just happen to cause too
many problems under IE6.
Hope this solves your problems.
