Try typing (copy/paste) each of the commands below one at a time in the Run
Box, pressing
Enter each time...
A message box should pop up each time indicating a successful operation.
Note: If you don't have Microsoft Virtual Machine installed (Java) the last
one may give an error message.

regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll

I too had a problem opening a window with an embedded link. I tried the
run commands here and it fixed my box.
Mine started after "smiley.com" install and uninstall and "zonealarm"
install and uninstall.
