can only open 1 window in Internet Explorer

When i click on a link in Internet Explorer a page pops up but nothing ever
loads in it i cant go anywhere other than the original window that i start
in, if i copy the link and paste it in the address bar of the original page
it go's to the url ok, but if i click on open link in new window the window
pop's up but nothing ever loads into it.

My System:
AMD 2.16Ghz
Windows XP Home
1GB ram
BT Broardband internet connection
Internet Explorer 6
I have Norton firewall and AVG Anti Virus Enabled.

Hope someone can help

Try typing (copy/paste) each of the commands below one at a time in the Run
Box, pressing
Enter each time...

A message box should pop up each time indicating a successful operation.

Note: If you don't have Microsoft Virtual Machine installed (Java) the last
one may give an error message.

Start|Run

regsvr32 shell32.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll

I too had a problem opening a window with an embedded link. I tried the
run commands here and it fixed my box.

Mine started after "smiley.com" install and uninstall and "zonealarm"
install and uninstall.
