Using the latest (6?) version of IE I downloaded Google toolbar. It's ok but
nothing impressive. For some reason, though, I have lost the address bar at
the top so am unable to key in a URL myself. I went to internet options and
checked the tab to stop using third party toolbars and I also tried to
re-install Internet Explorer but the problem remains. The box marked
'Address' is still there on the toolbar on the RHS but it appears to be
greyed out. In toolbar options Address is ticked ok.

Can anybody help with this irritating problem please?

Hi Peter,
Have a look at Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/ and under the
'Browsing' header check whether 'Show Go button in address bar' is
ticked.

Go to View and Toolbars and make sure that there is a check mark for
"Address Bar".

I have had this problem, go to the greyed out address tab, right click,
uncheck the lock toolbar option, then reposition the address bar.  As you
move it you will see that the part where you type in the URL is still there.
What concerns me though is why it happened in the first place...........any
ideas anyone.
