I am very new to Web design. I have just written a website with a
placeholder for a Navbar. The Navbar is created by Script in an external
script file. The reason for this is that I only need to write the script
once and not write the same html code for the navbar in every page on my
site. Then when I want to modify the Navbar I only have one place to edit
it. The script runs fine, but unfortunately the Navbar does not show until
all images on the page have downloaded. Is there a way to force the page to
update before the images have downloaded?

This is basically the html I am using:

<body onload='CreateNavbar(div1)>
<div id='div1'></div>
loads of html here.
</body>

Forget it.
I initially set all images to nothing and then set images after Navbar
created via an inline function.
