Hi, if you using Windows, have you checked Task Manager and looked at what
Processes you have running. Quite often a programme appears to close, but, is
not fully shut down leaving it as a running Process which the install app sees.
If this is the case, just end the process for F/fox.

Thanks for trying Jonathan. Task manager confirms that firefox is NOT open yet
Flash still tells me it can not be installed because Firefox IS open. Any other
ideas??  I'm running Vista on a brand new HP desktop.

Hi, I remembered something before about Firefox leaving a residual ghost after
closing, espeically if you have set up different user profiles, but, other
reasons as well such as after using a JAVA applet in Firefox then cosing. Look
at this search links on the subject, and try putting a 'Firefox does not close'
search in the Firefox knowledgebase
