I am new to Flash but have used Swish,  where it was possible to fade an image in and out.  I cannot work out how t do this in Flash? Can anyone help please?

In order to make fading (and other features) available to an image,
you'll have to convert the image to a symbol first.  Drag the image to the
Stage, and with the image selected, use Modify > Convert to Symbol from the
menu bar.  You'll get a dialog box that lets you give the image a symbol
name, which is what it will show up as in the Library, and choose a symbol
type.  Movie clip or graphic will do.

When the image is a symbol, you'll see new choices in the Property
inspector when you select the symbol.  Among them, you'll find a Color drop
down.  Use that.
