Im making a flash version of this site;
http://www.1gdomains.com/
The main logo is made up of a '1' and a 'G'. In my animation, I want the '1'
to come down from the top and settle in the center of the page. I also want the
'G' to come from the right and move into position, overlapping the '1'.
Ive nearly done this but im having one problem.
Ive got a movie called ?1? where the 1 comes from from the top and stops in
the center.
Ive also got a movie called ?G? where the G comes from the right and stops in
the center.
Ive got a top level movie called holderboth.
In that Ive got a movie called holder1, and holderG.
In holder1 the 1 gets a chunk taken out of it by the G (which is set to
erase), and in holderG the G gets a chunk taken out by the 1 (which is set to
erase).
If holder1 and holderG are some distance apart then they work fine. Both the 1
and the G move and then have a chunk taken out of them at the end. When I have
them overlapping however, so they finish in the position they need to, one will
completely erase the other!
I think I understand why this is happening. I think the ?1? or ?G? which is
set to erase is not just erasing in its holder but also the other holder. How
can I turn this off though?
Ive positioned them a little bit away so you can see what I mean here;

In case it helps ive now also uploaded my actually flash file here;

can anyone help me with this?
thanks a lot
james

You can do this simpler than what you have. I'd suggest you just use a mask
to reveal a white section over the 1, using the G.
Have a look:

How did you do that? When I download the flash file it wont export for me.
Did you use a time line and motion tween for the moment? I couldn't find a
tine line in the file i downloaded but im not sure my computer is opening it
properly.

Sorry - no there's no timeline. I used Tweener for the animation - you can
find the few lines of code in the script layer - click the little 'a' and
then open the actions window. You can get Tweener from Google code (just
type in tweener into google) or you can convert the code to use Flash's
built in tweening classes, or you can convert it to manual how you had it. I
just prefer not to use the timeline. My point was just to show you that you
can use a simple mask setup instead of the over complicated method you were
trying. How you animate the setup is up to you...
