Hi, thanks for the time to read my thread.

I have designed and coded some JSFL files in Flash 8 that worked a treat. I've
upgraded to CS3 and now they crash Flash!

Can anybody give me any clues to why this might be happening and stop working.
The JSFL's are important tools for my Job and I do depend on them heavily!

Thanks in advance for any help.

ok - still not got to the bottom of this.

The line of actionscript I've come to that makes Flash crash is this...

fl.getDocumentDOM().library.updateItem(item_array[0].name)

Is there a problem with library.updateItem?

Can anybody from Adobe or community forum expert shed some light on this
please. I found on livedocs.adobe that someone else reported a problem with
library.updateitem back in November 07...

http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?c

A simple, it's being looked into would help.

Cheers.

Thanks for reporting the crash.  It has been fixed in the next release of Flash.  Sorry I could not find any workaround for it in Flash CS3.

sorry, but i've gotta ask if you're serious about that.

this is a problem with flash cs3, it completely crashes the entire program
when a (very useful) feature is used, and there's not even going to be a bugfix
released for it? Do we really have to pay a full upgrade fee for the next
release of flash (whenever that is) to get this working?

Thanks San,

Any chance of a patch? I agree with _Signup and use this feature a lot. When is the new release?

Will there be a CS3 update that includes this fix? I had a workaround that
involved adding an item from the source FLA to the stage in the destination FLA
and then deleting it (which keeps it in the library, but removes it from the
stage). Using this workaround, I need to manually tell Flash that it's okay to
replace the item in the library. That was useful only as a short term solution
because I have to click a radio button and then the OK button a couple dozen
times!

As NovaOstrich said, can we have a patch please as this was a developed
problem trying to improve Flash. There wasn't a problem before CS3!

What problems will I inherit once I upgrade to the latest version of Flash now!

Thanks.
