frconfig.txt - where do I put it with tomcat?

I'm running tomcat and getting some errors connecting from another machine.

What errors you ask...this is in the server trace...

flashgateway.util.RequestDeniedException: Request denied.  Macromedia Flash
Remoting MX is operating as a developer edition. To upgrade Macromedia Flash
Remoting MX to a full licensed edition, please visit
http://www.macromedia.com/go/flashremoting

Now this is a fully registered remoting installation - and no flash.log
appears!  So it's probably not loading the frconfig.txt license info.  So
where in the path do I put it.  The docs say in the server classpath but
that doesn't work.  And if it works for you what EXACT path do you put it
in.

Cheers in advance

I have EXACTLY the same problem
mfo@synapsys.ch - 11 Jul 2004 22:12 GMT
Thanks a lot Macromedia - Not only did I pay good money for my remoting licence
which does not work,  your customer support also has the nerve to ask for money
before giving any help. I had OpenAMF working in no time, that was free and
people respond on the forums.
I would hope somebody from Macromedia monitors this...

The frconfig.txt needs to be under WEB-INF/classes folder.
Also, check the permission on the  frconfig.txt.

If this doesn?t work, doesn?t work
:)

ok...help me...now

in my desktop, remoting works fine, by the way, when i put .swf in a remote server, doesn?t work anymore
mfo@synapsys.ch - 15 Jul 2004 09:05 GMT
Just to recap what my problem is. Is there nobody out there that has this
problem resolved? Any help is appreciated.

[begin]
I have the biggest problems deploying flash remoting on our production
Linux/Tomcat server. Whatever I do I get:

NetServices info 2: sayHello_Status was received from server: <error> Flash
Remoting MX threw an exception during method invocation: Request denied.
Macromedia Flash Remoting MX is operating as a developer edition. To upgrade
Macromedia Flash Remoting MX to a full licensed edition, please visit
http://www.macromedia.com/go/flashremoting

as soon we access the server. On the local test system the applications runs
without any problems. We also have ZERO problems using Ope*A**!

My "frconfig.txt" file contains the following:

ip=
sn=frd100-45115-*****-*****
#sn=FRD100-01913-*****-*****

Neither of the serial numbers work. As Macromedias customer service confirmed,
both serial numbers decode as a full commercial version for Macromedia Flash
Remoting. That means, I should have a production license for the said software.
And then the wanted LOTS of money for further help!!!

Yes, I have dilligently rebootet Tomcat after any change to the frconfig.txt
file. I tried locating the file in

WEB-INF
WEB-INF/lib
WEB-INF/classes
${CATALINA_BASE}/common/lib

without success.
[end]

Does MM want us to use Ope*A** for sure?

How is your war file deployed? Is it an exploded war on disk?
mfo@synapsys.ch - 31 Jul 2004 08:47 GMT
Yes, Tomcat got restarted after every change to the frconfig.txt or changing .jar file location
Eric - 31 Jul 2004 13:28 GMT
You should be able to explode the WAR inside Tomcat and add the new license to the {flashremotingwar}/WEB-INF/classes directory (note the capitalization must be the same).

If you haven't look at them already I'd suggest that you check out the
installation and licensing instructions for FR.  You might find that
reinstalling the product and entering youe new license number during the
install will resolve your issue.  You can find the install instructions here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash_remoting/installation.html.

You can also enter a free installation support issue on the web at this
address: http://www.macromedia.com/support/email/isupport/main.cgi.  I'd
suggest that this be your next step in the process.

Finally, feel free to contact me directly for asisstance with getting your FR
license installed.  A quick telephone conversation with an engineer should
resolve the issue.

Thanks for the assistance. I finally managed to get hold of support after being
bounced twice between European and US support. I hope this will get me further.

To answer your question No it was not a "CD" install it was a a copy of just
flashgateway.jar and updating the frconfig.txt. According to the doc that
should be sufficient. I will try a full install again later (too busy right
now).

You've done this successfully with TomCat? Yes?
If so, any special permissions needed?

just for read.

yes, i?ve done this.

but the unique mistake, i can?t use when my .swf is in a remote server, just in my desktop
Shaz - 12 Jul 2004 19:32 GMT
This is the same old problem. frconfig.txt is still not where it needs to be
to be "licensed" (yes i have a valid license, just don't know where to put
the file in Tomcat). What you are encountering is the default "developer"
license given to you -- it will allow connections from localhost always, not
from external IPs. If you want to connect from an external IP, you need to
get a license.. i.e. put the frconfig.txt where flashremoting wants
it....... and now we are back to where we started! :)

I have the same problem! Anyone have any ideas???
I read from a post somewhere on JBoss, you put it in the bin directory, but
in Tomcat I've tried _everywhere_, no dice.
