We're having a problem with a web service that we've created that I'm using
for Flash remoting. We originally created the service using the 1.0 .NET
Framework, but we have since upgraded to .NET 1.1 Framework.
Now, when I try to connect to the services, I get errors like "No such
service exists", even though everything used to work correctly.
If I create the service using the 1.0 Framework, everything will work
correctly.
Is there something I can do to make the service work with the 1.1 Framework?
I know when we were first setting everything up, it wouldn't work with the
1.1 Framework SDK, it would only work with the 1.0 SDK (which contains the
wsdl.exe utility that the remoting uses to create the DLL for the service.)
We're using Flash MX, .NET Framework 1.1 (hopefully), .NET Framework SDK 1.1
(hopefully), ASPNET Web Services, Windows 2000 Server (for production),
Windows XP Pro (for development)
Is there an update or something?
Thanks!
Theresa

As far as I know, FR works fine in the 1.1 framework. I don't work with .NET myself, but I've
asked a few people about it and they have not reported any problems.

As someone who actually tried to implement this for over a week, and knows from experience, FR on .Net 1.1 is a no go. .Net changed significantly in version 1.1, the wsdl.exe utility in particular, and FR will not run on it unless you cripple your server by trying to run side by side code execution or uninstalling 1.1 and putting on the older 1.0 framework. Macromedia makes it quite clear in their documentation that it must be the .Net 1.0 Framework that you use in their requirements. The bottom line is the FR dll needs to be upgraded by Macromedia. Considering that the DLL cost well over $1000, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask them to keep things up to date.

I am using FR with 1.1 and it works fine but I had to use .aspx pages to communicate. Never got web service to work.
Conclusion: It seems that there is a compatibility problem if one uses a webservice in 1.1 but works in ASPX calls using gateway function/class calls.
Um didn't this original poster deserve feedback from MM publicly on this matter?
Where is the love? I mean support? FR=stepchild? FR for .NET =abused stepchild? Give us a break FR is really cool and VERY important to those of us that think its the greatest thing since sliced bread but unfortunately too few programmers at MM doing to many new products to take care of their kids. I know it detracts from your time to program if you have to frequent the forums but we need both your feedback and your hardwork. Sometimes the masses can be calmed by a few carrots like the one bout updating FR for actionscript 2.0 "soon" Winter/Spring...
GOOD LUCK PLEASE SHOW US THE LOVE---Reply to our posts in this forum MM. Anyone? Hello Bueler?
