I want to start using as many aspects of Actionscript 2.0 (Flash Pro 7.0.1) but
I need to use remoting. What is the best approach to using the remoting classes
with an Actionscript 2.0 application so that when the 2.0 remoting classes
become available, switching over to them has the least impact on the
application?

Joey has written the remoting classes in AS 2.

Doesn't Joey say NOT to use these classes in production?

Yea that what he says, but his code is the only work around I have seen.  Hopefully MM will get off their a.ses on this one, and not drop the ball again.

I got some hope from comments about a Ben Forta tutorial on Sean Corfield's
blog.  There were a few of us saying 'yeah, nice, but where's Remoting'.  One
person found a snippet that MM are looking at an late winter / early spring
release and Remoting is being totally rewritten.  Let's hope it turns out that
way, it being just around the corner.

Saying that, though, don't get your hopes up.  Remember that MM announced they
were going through final testing of the Remoting AS2 components prior to the
Flash updater many moons ago.  Nothing has appeared yet, except for Remoting in
Flex.
