If you look at the product page its $999
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashremoting/

but yet you can d/l the components you need for free here
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashremoting/downloads/components/

This had everything i needed except a way to communicate with the server.
After looking at a bunch of tutorials for .net  all of them used
Flashgateway.dll

None of the tutorials have this file  to download, so im wondering if this is
what comes with the flash remoting product?

Hi,

it's the great Question,

Flashremoting in .net is FREE or not, cause i call Adobe,
and they don't know the product.
It's crazy  ?

Flash remoting requires a server component to be installed.  It costs $999 from
adobe, however there are free flash remoting servers out there built in php and
asp... most notible is amfphp.

the components are free, they just add some functionality to flash in terms of
actionscripting and a debugger.  I don't know why they just don't include those
with flash from the get go...

In CS3, remoting is built in, so there is no components that I know of for
CS3...

hope that helps.

Anyone know the performance, and functional differences between using Flash remoting with Adobe's server component, versus say an AMFPHP gateway?

The latest version of AMFPHP is the fastest remoting solution available. Remoting at the speed of C.

Thanks for the input, my boss decided to get a hold of an adobe sales rep to
get the info we needed shortly after i posted this.

Our client did not want to go with an expensive piece of software so I decided
to use a product called Web Orb from http://www.themidnightcoders.com/
They have free and commercial versions of their flash remoting software for
.net, ruby on rails, java and php.
