I have developed an application in Flash MX with multiple forms plus a large
number of UI components (DataGrids, Datasets, Alerts, Lists, etc). The
performance/speed (up to 8 seconds initialising) of the application can be
quite slow although the application runs of a PC locally. Has anyone else
experienced  problems like this.

yes, i have seen this. I have an app that has an accordian component and a lot
of numeric steppers. It always take it more time that I'd like to render all of
the components. I've put a pre-loader on it so mu users know something is
happening, but there's still a moment (or two) after the preloader fininshes
and before the accordian and its contents are rendered.

Maybe the Maelstrom performance enhancements will help when it comes out, but
until then...

If anyone has any thoughts, I'm sure we'd both appreciate them!
