I've been asked by a client to use a particular font on a job and it so
anti-aliased it looks really fuzzy... even at 14pt.. epecially on monitors with
low resolution. I don't want to use dedicated flash fonts. Does anyone know a
way to improve this?

yours hopefully

Make sure your text field is set on whole numbers (x, y). That tends to help.

Thanks Amy... tried that. Sometimes it's better on 0.5 positions too. Awkward when embedded in symbols too... do they have to be set o0n whole numbers too I suppose?

The acual position is only relevant when using flash fonts,
which need to be in the pixel grid.

With your own font you only have the options showing in the dropdown menu.

The only thing you can do is to buy PixFont
(http://www.kgroup.ru/products.html),
and convert your font into a pixelfont (flash font as you call it).

It will look familiar with your original font, and look as clear as other
flash fonts.
Doing so, you really have to look for integer-positions.

If your textfield is placed in another mc the mc has to be on an
integer-position as well...

I have noticed it with non-pixel fonts as well.... my 2 cents. :)

Use bitmap text, no anti-alias.

Even when you set it to anti-alias for readability (CS3)?

Using bitmap is also a solution but it will render very crispy, probably more than you wish..
