Im using the DW generated code to embed my flash movies. The doctype is:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"

When I validate my page W3C seems pretty unhappy about most of this code. Is
there better alternative?

Check out Geoff Stearns' SWFObject.  You'll want something like that
anyway, otherwise users will have to "click to activate" in Internet
Explorer.
