I have recently upgraded to vista (fresh install and it went great. even an
idiot like me can do it). i have several swf based websites with links in them.
they are action scripts like getURL("http://www.penny-arcade.com/", "_blank").
in XP, these worked fine in both IE and FF, but when i went to vista they no
longer worked in either. i have updated flash 8 and re-exported a swf file from
the original fla file, but nothing has changed. Without a workaround, these
sites and videos are useless. i do not want to have to rely on html code to
achieve something that worked fine a month ago. I'm stumped. any help would be
appreciated.

You sure it's not just simply a security issue? Vista is more secure, so
possibly opening a blank window is the problem? I'm not sure here, as I'm
still on XP, but have heard reports of problems due to the tightened
security. Maybe try loosening up your internet security settings and see if
that does the trick. It's definitely a Vista ,and not a Flash thing...

I had the same problem! If you download Firefox 2 and it works fine.
