I'm trying to design my website and I have a top part with a logo and bottom
part with the menu and the middle part with all the content - all the pages
look the same except for the middle part.  How do I design the website so that
when I click a button in the menu, only the middle part changes? I don't want
it to jump from page to page because Im using music on  my site and I don't
want the the music to stop and start every time someone clicks to a new page.
This website does it: melissajill.com

I know this will probably be a long answer, so if anyone has a link to an
online tutorial or something, thanks so much!!!http://www.melissajill.com

If everything is in the same flash movie, then just make the "middle" its own movieclip. Then you can control that movieclip separately from the content above and below it.

Id love to try that - how do you make something its own movie clip? The middle
part is a slideshow so theres a bunch of those key frames spread out along the
top - I tried to create the rest of the page in flash (I was using dreamweaver
before ) - and it was a big mess.

Im kinda flash dumb - so far.  Thank you so so much!

Select all of the frames that compose that section of your movie. From the Edit
menu, select Timeline... and then select copy frames. Then go to the Insert
menu and select New Symbol. When the new window opens, select MovieClip and
give it a name, Then select the first frame of the new timeline. Go back to the
Edit menu and select Timeline again and then select Paste frames. You'll now
have a movieClip that contains that content.

You can place that movieClip on the main timeline and it will play. Once you
are satisfied with this new movieClip, you can delete the original content from
the main timeline, everything is now contained in that movieClip.

Really really really brilliant advice - thank you a million times! Really,
thank you. Theres no way I could have done it without that instruction.  It
looks exactly the way I wanted it to look - next saturday Im going to get
hosting and publish it to the web - I can't wait! :)
