You can use the Color panel to change the fill of a shape from a Solid to
Bitmap. If you haven't done so, draw a background with the Rectangle tool.
Don't worry about the color, you'll change it in a minute. Import your image
to the Library. Select your background shape and open the Color panel. Change
the Type from Solid to Bitmap. Choose your image from the selection. You
should have a repeated background going on.
Hope that helps

Hello Noelbaland , thanks for helping.
I knew one can use a bitmap picture to be use as a fill in a rectangle.
But my question was about vector graphics: I want to use an illustrator file
as a fill, or as a repetitive pattern.
Vector graphics are less heavy than bitmap graphics and I'd like to save some
loading time by using more vector graphics when it is possible.
Thanks
David
