Hi I?m new at this. I want a swf to load var into an xml file so that when the swf re-opens it can look in the xml file to see where it last stopped playing. Honestly I am about to give up hope, where can I find an answer? does it have to be xml? maybe the SharedObject class would be a quick way to do what you want Take a look into Flash and PHP interaction to save data into an XML or a TXT.
