Sorry about the subject. That second bit is what I wanted to title this
post but I didn't think it was very descriptive.

Now, Instead of actually describing it to you in great detail I'll just
say that Win Moz 1.5, Opera 7.23, Mac Moz 1.5, Opera 6.03 and Safari all
produce more or less the effect I'm after, ignoring a few minor
descrepencies. IE for both the Mac and PC produce garbage... (Oh
surprise, surprise). Ignoring Mac IE, assuming that most mac people have
seen the light and have adopted their browser sent forth from the Apple
mother land... My only concern is with Windows IE.

I have a pair of divs set with a 50% width, placed within a third
encompassing div. Now sadly IE interprets this as 50% of the window width
and not the parent div (or even the parent's parent!). If I try to set
the width of the parent div it seems like EOMB goes out of whack. If any
of you could take a peak and throw up some ideas that would be great.

I don't know why.  Mac IE can be difficult at times, but it's a
completely different browser than the win variety, and much much better.

Validate your html.  Do that before trying to troubleshoot bugs.

Don't specify such small font size.  There is no reason to use
anything less than font-size: 100% for most of your content.

Wild guess - try using the "inherit" value.

Philip, Thanks! I think that did the trick. I set the row to inherit the
width and then dropped the cell width from 50% to 49%. The 1% drop screws
up the nice even spacing I had a little, but at least it all fits now.
Mac IE still doesn't like it, but like I said in my first post I'm not
too concerned about that browser.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look at it.

Glad it worked!  I've only just got past the relevant chapter in (the
excellent) "Teach Yourself CSS in 24 Hours" (SAMS) so more credit is due to
the author than to me!
