In view of the mixed bag of answers to the "positioning: newbie question" thread, and in view of the fact that the float and the positioning seems to cause trouble (again and again people have trouble putting things at the bottom of a column) - Which ONE command in CSS would you remove? Which ONE command in CSS would you alter? My answer would probably be 'none' to at least 2 of the above, but it would help to know what you mean by 'command', as CSS doesn't have any commands. Do you mean element? Or property? You need to distinguish between the capabilities of css and the capabilities of clients. A lot of difficulties stem from IE's lack of support for many aspects of css2 and it's numerous css bugs. For example using css to replace a table layout is catered for in css2, but because IE does not support it, few people even know that such a mechanism exists.
